2 May 1746: His Majesty’s Ships Greyhound (20 guns), commanded by Captain Thomas Noel, and Baltimore (14 guns), captained by Commander Richard Howe, set sail from Aros Bay off the Isle of Mull to confront two French privateers that were anchored in Loch nan Uamh, Arisaig. They were joined en route by Terror (14 guns), captained by Commander Robert Duff, and the following morning, they sailed into Loch nan Uamh.
2 May 1746: The Duke of Cumberland’s private secretary, Sir Everard Fawkener, sent instructions to Major-General John Campbell of Mamore not to carry out the disarming of the pro-government clansmen on the Isle of Skye and to disarm only those who were in rebellion or supported the Jacobites.
